As we look forward to celebrating our story with you all in May, here's a look back on the journey that's led us to the big day!

Jay and I were friends in high school (Black and Green class of 2016!) but it was always just that - good friends. During college, I swiped up on one of Jay's Snapchat stories - a joke about supply and demand curves- and before we knew it, we were bantering, realizing how natural it felt to us. We were just kids then, so even though we liked each other, we decided we would stay friends.

During the pandemic, we reconnected when Swetha sent me an old photo she found of our high school friend group (shoutout Savage Squad!) and before we knew it, we were messaging each other back and forth again. I was working in Kansas City while Swetha was in school in Pittsburgh, so we got to see each other in-person every few months. We made the best of long distance with lots of phone calls, movie dates on Facetime, and counting down the days until we would be able to see each other again. The distance made the in-person visits that much more special!

Our next step was meeting each other’s amazing families! Although we come from different cultures, we share strong commitment to family. We love our parents so much and honor the sacrifices they have made for us. Their blessings mean the world to us, and we are endlessly grateful!

And of course, we have the best time with each others' friends. Whether it's trips out to our friends' cities, Lawrence, Westport, The Strip District, going climbing, camping, or just getting into any kind of shenanigans, the memories we have made with our friends we will truly cherish forever, and we are so lucky to have them be a part of our journey!

Jay took a new job in DC and our long distance relationship suddenly became medium-distance. We were so excited to be in driving-distance, and made frequent weekend trips to see each other! Here's us at a comedy show in DC :)

We've loved getting to spend time outdoors together. I convinced Swetha to go camping and she actually enjoyed herself!

Then, the best surprise came last year - Jay got offered a job in Pittsburgh! Our dream of finally living in the same city again became reality. Pittsburgh has become our new home now with its scenic bridges, delicious food, and the best part - each other!

Would any couple's story be complete without a couple's costume? Swetha and I channelled our inner little chef this past Halloween!

Jay planned the most perfect proposal at The Phipps Botanical Garden in Pittsburgh! To my biggest surprise, he coordinated our parents, siblings, cousins, and friends all being there to wish and bless us. I only cried tears of joy maybe five times that day!

We were so lucky to have a beautiful engagement ceremony in Kansas surrounded by our family and friends! It was filled with dancing, mehendi, important rituals, and so much love.

We are so excited to see what the rest of life holds for us. Thank you all for being a part of our journey, and we can't wait to see you in May!
